Carolina Logging Association is a non-profit corporation organized to promote logging professionalism and business opportunities for the entire forest products network that logging supports by: 

  • Being a specific and unified voice for timber harvesters in NC
  • Increasing the professionalism of the timber harvesting industry by networking information and using business contacts
  • Educating others about how the logging industry harvests and transports products safely and with sound environmental practices
  • Maintaining professionalism by promoting and aiding in state-certified logger education programs and continuing education components, and by continuously promoting worker safety and professionalism in the logging industry by creating and maintaining relationships with other industry associations, government agencies, and allied industry partners.

 The CLA employs a registered lobbyist for the state legislature and state agencies, lobbying on behalf of all loggers in NC at the State and Federal levels. The following bullet points are a few accomplishments that the CLA is credited with. 

  • The re-instatement of sales tax exemption on logging equipment
  • The re-instatement of sales tax exemption on logging equipment
  • Change of the weight limit tolerance by increasing the limit from 80,000 to 90,000 lbs
  • CLA has a written collaborative training alliance between NC Department of Labor (OSHA), NC Forestry Association (NCFA), and Forestry Mutual Insurance Company (FMIC)
  • An active engagement with the NC Highway Patrol Division of Motor Carrier Enforcement
  • Represents all loggers in NC as a voting member of the American Loggers Council, which is recognized nationally for lobbying predominantly on Federal Issues
  • Obtains a seat on the Board for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative State Implementation Committee (SFI)
  • Active member of the Safety and Logging Transportation Committee
  • Active member of TEAM Safe Trucking
  • Close working relationship with the NC Forestry Service and the Department of Water Quality
  • State sponsor for Log A Load For Kids
  • Actively seeking access to the Interstate Highway System

These tasks are only possible because the CLA receives support from our annual member dues. We attribute this success and our continued role as a voice for the industry to our logging, trucking, and partner members. We invite you to become an active member and join the continued efforts of the Carolina Loggers Association.
